You want to have a great repertoire available to you for auditions and performances but you just don’t know where to start. There are so many options out there and so much you can work through – its a matter of knowing where to look. Here are some good places to look for new songs.
There really is truth to the saying don’t practise ’til you get it right, practise ’til you can’t get it wrong. When it comes to practising a piece you are performing or even auditioning (which lets face it – is sometimes more scary than a performance) it’s really important to have your work down. Here are some of my tricks for being ready.
When you are trying to get your song ready for a performance or audition it is really important that you find the story that you are wanting to tell. Sometimes that is laid out for you and sometimes it takes a little more work. Here are some steps that will help you if you are a little lost. Sometimes the hardest thing to do is find your story once your song is taken out of context. So lets say you are singing in a cabaret (or audition room) a song that is no longer in context of its show and see how we might find it.
